Coles Bay House – Built by East Coast Constructions
Award-nominated and architecturally designed by Ancher Architecture Office, Coles Bay House is a modest yet refined addition to a much-loved family shack on Tasmania’s East Coast. For years, the family camped on their bush block with a converted shipping container as shelter, dreaming of a holiday home that respected the land and its breathtaking outlook across the Hazards.
East Coast Constructions brought this vision to life, delivering a sustainable, small-footprint pavilion that enhances amenity while ensuring the built form remains humbled by its natural surrounds. Crafted with precision, the new pavilion frames outdoor living spaces, integrates custom steel and timber screening for privacy and shade, and balances intimate private areas with a light-filled central living space.
Every detail—luxury finishes, seamless joinery, and site-sensitive construction—reflects East Coast Constructions’ hallmark of craftsmanship and care. Coles Bay House stands as an example of architecture and building working together to create a retreat that is both elevated and deeply connected to place.
The Freycinet Coastal Retreat – Built by East Coast Constructions
The Freycinet Coastal Retreat has been designed and built with one clear purpose—to capture the unrivalled views of Tasmania’s East Coast and create a home that sits seamlessly within its natural surrounds. East Coast Constructions worked closely with the owners to deliver a residence where every detail, from layout to finishes, was considered with comfort and connection in mind.
Expansive glass doors open the bedrooms and living areas to the outdoors, framing sweeping ocean views and bringing natural light deep into the home. The open-plan kitchen and living space was purpose-built for gathering, complete with modern appliances, quality joinery, and seamless flow to the deck beyond. Spacious bedrooms with private decks and flexible layouts ensure the home works equally well for couples, families, or groups.
Finished with Tasmanian craftsmanship and thoughtful touches—from heated tile flooring in the bathrooms to smart technology and a private outdoor dining area—the Freycinet Coastal Retreat is a true example of East Coast Constructions’ ability to combine function, design, and setting in one exceptional build.
Still @ Freycinet – A Nordic Retreat Built by East Coast Constructions
When owner Kim dreamed of creating Still—a brand-new, architecturally designed retreat on Tasmania’s East Coast—she knew she needed a team she could trust. With decades of craftsmanship and a reputation for quality, East Coast Constructions was the natural choice to bring this vision to life.
Handcrafted with locally sourced Tasmanian materials, Still is more than a stay—it’s an experience. Inspired by Kim’s love of Nordic culture and the Danish concept of hygge—cosiness, connection, and contentment—Still embraces nature and the revitalising energy of Coles Bay.
This one-of-a-kind retreat features three private ensuite bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, open-plan living, a private deck with sweeping ocean views, and the indulgence of an exclusive-use Nordic sauna and outdoor shower.
East Coast Constructions is proud to have built Still, a place where Tasmanian craftsmanship meets Scandinavian soul.
